Assistant Professor Julia Babensee in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering received the Society of Biomaterials’ 2005 Young Investigator Award for outstanding achievements in biomaterials research.
Professor Wayne Book in the School of Mechanical Engineering received the 2004 Dynamic Systems and Control Division Leadership Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for sustained outstanding leadership.
Professor Leonid Bunimovich of the School of Mathematics was awarded a Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany. He was also named a Fellow of the Institute of Physics.
Associate Professor David Citrin in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering was awarded a Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany.
Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) research scientist Victor DeJesus received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Scientific and Technological Achievement Award.
Assistant Professor W. Alan Doolittle in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering received a Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence.

Assistant Professor Gregory D. Durgin in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering received a Women in Engineering Excellence in Teaching Faculty Award for his excellence in teaching and his caring, motivational attitude toward his students.
Professor Augustine O. Esogbue in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering was elected a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences. He was cited for his outstanding contributions, achievements and service.
The International Society for Optical Engineering awarded GTRI principal research scientist Nickolas Faust the designation of Fellow.
Assistant Professor Facundo Fernandez in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry received the 2005 American Society of Mass Spectrometry Young Investigator Research Award.
Assistant Professor Serge Guillas in the School of Mathematics is part of a multi-disciplinary research team that received the 2005 Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Professor Ronald G. Harley in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering received the IEEE Power Engineering Society Cyril Veinott Award for his dedication to the electric power engineering profession.

Professor Christian Houdré of the School of Mathematics was named a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics because of his outstanding work in the theories and applications of non-stationary, non-Gaussian processes, wavelet transforms and isoperimetric inequalities.
Associate Professor Frank Loeffler of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering won the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program Project of the Year 2004 award from the Department of Defense for his contributions to innovative cleanup strategies for chlorinated solvents.
The Academy of Marketing Science named Regents Professor Naresh Malhotra of the College of Management as the 2005 recipient of its Outstanding Marketing Educator of the Year in recognition of his contributions to research, teaching and service.
Assistant Professor Valeria Milam in the School of Materials Science and Engineering received the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence.
Associate Professor Boris Mizaikoff in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry received the 2005 Pittcon Achievement Award.
Kerem Pekkan, a research engineer in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, received the Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Artificial and Internal Organs.

Assistant Professor Marcus Weck in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry was named a 2005 Alfred P. Sloan Fellow and received the 2005 DuPont Young Professor Award.
Professor Donald White in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering received the 2005 Special Achievement Award from the American Institute of Steel Construction for his work on the strength and ductility of bridge plate girders fabricated from high-performance grade steels.
Regents Professor and Associate Chair Ajit Yoganathan was awarded the 2005 Theo C. Pilkington Outstanding Educator Award from the American Society for Engineering Education for his significant contribution to the development of the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University.
Professor Cheng Zhu in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering received the Hemorheology and Microcirculation Award from the International Society of Biorheology and the International Society for Clinical Hemorheology.
Professor Min Zhou in the School of Materials Science and Engineering was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
